The mundane

I have missed this little space in all the time that I took off and was sick. Even though I feel better now, I still have trouble with what to let out on my little blog.

Lately, things have been really standard around here: walks, ice cream treats, early bed times, busy summer at work for T, playground and zoo trips and general, lazy fun summer for me and Bird.

The mundane always seems so silly to share but that is basically what is going on around here.

Biz cards, G-sales, & Prayers

*Things are really ramping up around here in regards to moving. T and I cleaned out and set aside a TON tonight for our garage sale that starts tomorrow! We have a move date planned (2 weeks from tomorrow) and our list of things to do is getting smaller as the hours countdown to us not being homeowners (see #4). It really feels good to pare down our belongings again and let things go to people who can really use them.

*I was so excited about their arrival when they got here that I forgot to show off my new business cards! I ordered from UPrinting.com and their site was super easy to work with and the quality was just what I wanted. They are little 2"x2", glossy, double sided cuties that I'm amped to share.

*Speaking of amped to share, I have more big news...I received my first wholesale order for a Goose + Trisser product. This spring you'll be seeing my signature Yes, Michigan State Love hoop here. That means two things 1) I better get busy and 2) We're taking a trip to the Island this spring!

*Please pray that we get through the next couple weeks with work, packing, work, moving, work, taking care of Bird, play time, saying bye to good friends, recovering from last week and much more.

-Totally not shop related, had a Skype date this morning with my oldest bro and SIL. I highly recommend it to families that are far apart. They got to watch Bird run all around and see what she can do now. I hope to do it more often cause it is a great way to for Bird to get to know them better since they live so far away and aren't over all the time.

-This is going to be a busy week, with tons of appointments, friend dates, play dates, hopefully moving updates, cooking at home, and lots + lots of stitching (I have 8 hoops to get done!)

Ease into the week - more bits

Bird and I were under the weather this weekend, so we relaxed and were tended to by Nurse T. It was not easy to take care of two sick ladies but he managed very well. There was lots of napping, many movies on Netflix, fun foods to make us sickies feel better and lots of hugs. T is now sick himself.

We did get a chance to go visit Enomhen, who was in town for a surprise visit to meet her little sister Vikki's 2 week old baby girl, Johanna. How I missed my little Bird when I held teeny Johanna!

I'm really looking forward to feeling better this week, working on some shop updates, having play time with friends (for Bird and me!) and being that much closer to Spring! I had a great mail weekend, receiving my new biz cards (photos to come!), tons of hoops for new orders, and new item labels. I'm chomping at the bit to get creative but I'm trying not to be too ambitious this week as I'm still recovering, so it might just end up being a "play time, all the time" and "don't get the house too dirty" kind of week. Wish me luck.

Tomorrow we celebrate T's 30th birthday, so leave some love for him and I'll let you know how the celebration goes. I can't believe he's going to be 30. Where did it all go? I still remember us in college, the early twenties, and now...30, already? That means I'm not too far behind, but I'm still behind for now and enjoying my last few years of the twenties. I think I found him the perfect present too but you'll just have to wait and see.

Wednesday little bits

You know who's at Target at 8 am on a Wednesday? Mommies and babies. And the people that work there. And me and Bird.

It was actually really nice to just browse the aisles and not be rushed or dodging a bunch of people to get what you want off the shelves. Might be our new thing to do Wednesday mornings.

Target, you're alright with me.

We should be getting some news about our house sale today. After a delay with the buyers bank, our time line to move became very TBD. I'm seriously praying that we get to move by the end of the month. My to-do list for moving is bursting at the seams and I just can't wait to get started. But I will. I have to. Wait that is.

T's birthday is coming up next week and I have no clue what to get him. We've been together for 5+ years and I'm already running out of ideas. Help!

He's the kind of guy who doesn't want anything until he wants something specific. And then he gets that thing. Then he goes back to not wanting anything.

Except food. He always wants food.

Speaking of food, we are going on a no eating out freeze again this month. With the exception of dinner for T's birthday (see above about food) we will be cooking everything at home this month. We used to do this all the time before we paid off our debt and have become lax with the practice ever since.

Good for the budget and good for our bellies.

Snow days

This is our view out the back window today. Yesterday afternoon we could see the green grass.

When will this be over?

Lucky for us, T got a snow day and we got to extend the weekend! On the agenda for today:

A little work from home for mom
Hot soup and toast for lunch - Cream of Potato with Ham (mmmmm!)
Several naps, hopefully for all of us
Maybe braving the snow and hitting up Sam's Club for some necessities
Netflix on the TV all day
Tons of playtime with Bird

Reflections on a Monday morning

As the week gets started and my to-do list begins to grow with the coming days' tasks, I took a few moments to myself this morning and embraced them.

I paused to hold Bird just a bit longer and smell her hair, full of that ever sweet baby smell.

I reminisced on dinner with our little family of three and my brother Charles last night (who brought ice cream and ice cream sandwiches for dessert!)

I remembered a phone call with my older bro who I haven't talked to in a while.

I noticed the butterflies I got when I thought of T getting home at 230 today.

My smile grew from phone calls and texts from girlfriends near and far, old and new.

For now, I will sip my hot cocoa, watch the snow fall outside and enjoy these moments and memories that I've been given.

2011, starts with a bang

2011 has already been full of goods and bads, mostly goods

Bad: first cold of the year- no nursery time with my babies
Good: time to just lounge around with T and Bird at home

Good: planning Bird's 1st birthday party
Bad: hand cramps from addressing invitations so soon after addressing holiday cards (oh January babies!)

Good: my first etsy sale!
Bad: saying goodbye to this beauty

Good: late night crafting by T's side
Good: friend and family time
Good: Bird's new tricks - shaking her head no, clapping, steps + stomps and climbing everything

I'd say we're off to a great start, looking forward to all the great things to come!

Our first family holiday card is here and I can't wait to share them!

But it will have to wait until after they are addressed and sent out, which we will be taking care of this weekend. I'm not looking forward to the hand cramp that comes with hand addressing 30+ envelopes but I am looking forward to friends and family seeing our holiday cheer on display.

A few more bits

After a long November, we welcomed December with some snow this morning! Winter is really upon us now which meant we broke out the boots for mom and the coat, hat and mittens for Bird today.

We had a lovely playdate at my new favorite place, Jungle Java (despite some hawk-eyed, overbearing staff that ruined our manicure session fun), and afterward the three of us just huddled in our home, staying warm and out of the fray that is rush hour traffic and the holiday season. That is, after T mowed the lawn/mulched the leaves as the flurries swirled around him!

Little Bits

The little lady has been playing in her room for about an hour now. Every now and then I'll hear a giggle or a squeal. I love that she is just having a ball.

Wonky interwebs

Something is going on with our Internet connection or our router and I'm too tired and full of delicious pulled pork and catfish from Slows to do anything about it.

Sam's Club fail

This evening we took what we thought would be a short trip to Sam's Club to pick up something we've been thinking about getting for a long while. Here's what happened:

We take the card for our item to the cashier
We wait for them to go find the item in the warehouse area
We are repeatedly told that they found it but it was under something/in another area/locked up
We are given free sodas due to the wait
Bird is oogled by many a worker and shopper
30 minutes go by and our item finally comes to us
We are assured that they checked the box and everything is in there
We check out with our sodas and Bird and item and get a smiley face on our receipt as we leave
We get home all excited about our item, waiting to see who tries to open it first
We start to open the box and pull things out...

...the item is not in the box. The main component that we bought is not in the box. I've been repeating that out loud to myself and T for the past 2.5 hours. I can't believe it is not in the box.

Today was an awesome day, starting from last night. Bird went right down to bed and didn't wake up until 7 this morning. She went right back to sleep after a feeding and slept until 10, allowing me to workout, shower, eat breakfast and read an entire magazine in peace and quiet. Unreal.

Bird and I took advantage of the last of the wonderful weather and took a leisurely walk through our neighborhood. I know we won't be here for much longer (prayers!) so we enjoyed the sights, waved to neighbors, strolled down the sidewalks and just took in the colors and sounds.

--

T and I had an impromptu home date night last night, involving Jet's Pizza, Coca-Cola, blankets and the movie In the Loop. I highly recommend all of those things.

--

Did I mention that I got a full nights sleep last night...I don't want to brag.

Little bits

I am exhausted.*

Bird has been waking up in the middle of the night every night since we went to visit T's parents back in early October. I can't figure it out. She shouldn't be hungry. She knows how to get back to sleep on her own. But every night for weeks now it is like we're back to square one. It is affecting the rest of our day because Mom is no fun when she is tired/cranky/ready to snap from lack of sleep.

I'll get over it.

My teeth hurt. Again. I'm 49% serious when I say I'm thinking of getting them all taken out at 27. Either that or I can never look at Coke/candy/anything other than water again. It's that annoying. I'm almost jealous of Bird in that she has no teeth to rot away with sweet sweets. (side note: She still has no teeth! Where are they?)

I have a dentist appointment on Monday and I'm sure they will tell me about 5 of my teeth are rotten (have a cavity) but I think it is just so they can see Bird more often since she is my sidekick and accompanies me every time.

Again, I'll get over it.
