Happy renters!

As of last Friday, we are no longer homeowners!

There were so many little setbacks that popped up along the way, especially these last two weeks. From last minute upgrades to the house to the buyer going to the wrong office to sign the closing documents, we ran right up to the last hour. In the end all the papers got signed and everyone could breathe a sigh of relief.

The best part of the whole closing was after everyone left the real estate office. We were sitting in the car and the new owner and her man were walking out of the office. She looked so happy and then she broke out into a dance + started jumping up and down! She had no idea we were watching. To see the sheer joy that we helped bring her, that moment was worth it all. We couldn't be more grateful that the house has moved on to make someone else happy for a season of their life.

We are still getting settled in our new place, the last of the boxes + bins should be emptied this week. I'm looking forward to making this place our home. I'll be sure to share some photos as soon as things settle down a bit.

Happy Monday from your happy renters!

Secret bonus of moving

In 2 minutes I was able to lower our car insurance by over $150, just by updating our address with our insurers! This move just keeps getting better!

Happy weekend everyone!

p.s. cross your fingers that our closing goes well today, updates on Monday!

Get to know your neighbors

Even though last week was busy with packing, work, moving, seeing friends and more, I took a little time out for myself to find a little something for our new place. I had been eying a couple pieces from everyeskimo for a bit and finally bit the bullet and clicked "checkout."

Lucky for me, everyeskimo is local to me, so not only did I get to save on shipping (cost cutter!) but I got to meet the lovely Regina behind the great finds and cute little stitched friends. She was just as adorable as I expected and her home (the little bit that I saw) is an aesthetic extension of what you see in her shop, amazing. She seems like the kind of lady I could be friends with! Ah, Etsy, bringing people together!

I adore the packaging!
a kind note

And what did I pick up you ask?

for my jewels

for my office space
I am finally getting around to getting these pieces out as everything is finding its new place in the new space.

Moving break #5

This week is super busy with moving so for the next week or so I'll leave you with little reminiscences of the beginnings in this house and the times we had.

T and I have been discussing our "life plan" lately. You know the "where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?" type conversation. We came to a realization that in order for our plans to come to fruition a few changes would have to be made, including one big change.

Customer Service Error

One of the best parts about a new house is getting all new things for it. Like appliances, toilet paper holders, blinds...ya know, the basics.

Well we decided it was time to scrap our "white" Ikea loveseat in lieu of a new living room set. So we moseyed on down to good 'ole Art Van and found a nice set that we thought would look great in our house. Simple, classic, not too fancy...

"When can we have it delivered?"
"Tuesday between 10 and 1." (which by the way is an estimate, not a guarantee...and also its an estimate of arrival time, not total delivery time...)

So, it arrives and is set up, the chairs that is...and we wait about two days to set up the tables cause we've been busy...

Moving break #1

This week is going to be super busy with moving, working, moving, rehearsal for Easter service, moving, cleaning, selling off the last of our unneeded wares, and oh, did I mention moving?!?!

We hit the bricks this Friday and will (fingers crossed) close next Wednesday, my birthday! Can you say best present (for me at this time) ever.

For the next week or so I'll leave you with little reminiscences of the beginnings in this house and the times we had.

The Beginning

We did it...we finally did it...T and I are married!

Its been almost two weeks of wedded...fun. I wouldn't say bliss because that's corny and strange but it feels different. I'm excited to be Mrs. W., it feels so official!

We went on our honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas, slept, ate, and laid in the sun a lot, and generally enjoyed getting to know each other as husband and wife.

The past week has been spent moving into our new house! Its such a dream that we now have our own house, a home, where we can do what we want with no one to answer to but ourselves. I hope that in the future it becomes a place for family and friends to congregate and feel at home as well.

I'll have pictures up soon enough, but until then...

Brrr!

Biz cards, G-sales, & Prayers

*Things are really ramping up around here in regards to moving. T and I cleaned out and set aside a TON tonight for our garage sale that starts tomorrow! We have a move date planned (2 weeks from tomorrow) and our list of things to do is getting smaller as the hours countdown to us not being homeowners (see #4). It really feels good to pare down our belongings again and let things go to people who can really use them.

*I was so excited about their arrival when they got here that I forgot to show off my new business cards! I ordered from UPrinting.com and their site was super easy to work with and the quality was just what I wanted. They are little 2"x2", glossy, double sided cuties that I'm amped to share.

*Speaking of amped to share, I have more big news...I received my first wholesale order for a Goose + Trisser product. This spring you'll be seeing my signature Yes, Michigan State Love hoop here. That means two things 1) I better get busy and 2) We're taking a trip to the Island this spring!

*Please pray that we get through the next couple weeks with work, packing, work, moving, work, taking care of Bird, play time, saying bye to good friends, recovering from last week and much more.

There was some good news

Last week amid our sad update, we did get some good news! Our mortgage holder (finally!) got it's stuff together and it looks like we are moving in less than a month! We are looking to close by April 15th and despite all the waiting up until now, things have really ramped up around here.

We have our inspection tomorrow, so we're planning a little family dinner date to pass the time (aka be out of the house) and continue planning. There are 4 weeks and a LONG list of to-do's (my favorite!)...oh not to mention Bird, the busy boss, to take care of and my work here + here. Can you say busy! Where's the nanny and my clone when you need them?

First big thing on the agenda? Weather permitting, we'll be having a garage sale this weekend. We got in the mood this past weekend with a couple Craigslist sales and are ready for more! I'm giddy at the idea of our stuff finding new homes and for others to make memories with things that no longer have a place in our lives.

Happy Monday!

Wednesday little bits

You know who's at Target at 8 am on a Wednesday? Mommies and babies. And the people that work there. And me and Bird.

It was actually really nice to just browse the aisles and not be rushed or dodging a bunch of people to get what you want off the shelves. Might be our new thing to do Wednesday mornings.

Target, you're alright with me.

***

We should be getting some news about our house sale today. After a delay with the buyers bank, our time line to move became very TBD. I'm seriously praying that we get to move by the end of the month. My to-do list for moving is bursting at the seams and I just can't wait to get started. But I will. I have to. Wait that is.

***

T's birthday is coming up next week and I have no clue what to get him. We've been together for 5+ years and I'm already running out of ideas. Help!

He's the kind of guy who doesn't want anything until he wants something specific. And then he gets that thing. Then he goes back to not wanting anything.

Except food. He always wants food.

***

Speaking of food, we are going on a no eating out freeze again this month. With the exception of dinner for T's birthday (see above about food) we will be cooking everything at home this month. We used to do this all the time before we paid off our debt and have become lax with the practice ever since.

Good for the budget and good for our bellies.

If you have any recipes you'd like to share to make March yummy, please send to blog@gooseandtrisser.com. You're the best.

Moving update

Things have been a little hectic around here for the past couple days due to some good news about our home sale (keep those fingers crossed!) It looks like we may be moving within the next 30-45 days! We just have to wait for some things to be finalized on the buyers side and we're out of here.

I am so very excited but this puts my planner-sense into overdrive.

We stopped by the townhouse that we're going to be moving into to get a better sense of the space today and we were flooded with ideas of what to do with the space. I may finally get to take care of #30 due to the finished basement!

Wish us luck in the next few weeks that everything goes smoothly and we can close in a timely manner.

Little Bits

Today is the last day for 25% off in my shop Goose and Trisser with the code GANDTBFCMBLOG. Ends at midnight.

--

The little lady has been playing in her room for about an hour now. Every now and then I'll hear a giggle or a squeal. I love that she is just having a ball.

--

Our house is going to be inspected today. Here is hoping that this selling process is one step closer to being over.

--

Today is absolutely beautiful outside. From the inside, looking out. Tell me why I just want to sleep the day away.

Gray Days and Daydreams

On this dreary foggy Wednesday my daydreams look a bit like this:

Being a little office Goose at home while Bird is napping, working on paperwork to get this house sold and just enjoying the quiet while brainstorming for my shop.

enjoy your wednesdays, however they may go!

At this moment

right at this moment:

I'm excited/anxious about the response our house has gotten in the last week or so, we have our 4th showing this evening

I love hearing the sounds of Bird playing in the other room in her Exersaucer

I'm looking forward to our date next Friday for Ms. Self's wedding

I'm crazy about Bird's 7 month old curiosity that leads her to try to climb and stand to see/grab things

I kinda wanna go back to bed for another 3-4 hours, perhaps a nap is in order

I'm realizing things may always be in a state of limbo and that's not always a bad thing

In the Photo Fridays - Week 8

In honor of our house and the big decision we made, I decided to show off my little family in front of our house, while it is still our house.

Happy weekend!

Things in this tidy little house will be quiet this weekend as I'm starting to not feel so well and I have to be in top shape for big plans on Sunday...

Tonight: Nana is coming to visit Bird. She starts to have withdrawal symptoms if she goes too long without seeing her grand-baby.

Saturday: We have a showing for our house in the afternoon, so the morning will be filled with housework and yardwork. Also, my oldest friend is in town, so in perfect timing, to get us out of the house we'll be going to a late lunch.

Sunday: I get to sing during church services! It has been over a year since I've done it and I'm a little nervous but so excited at the same time.

Our ultimate simple life move

T and I have been discussing our "life plan" lately. You know the "where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?" type conversation. We came to a realization that in order for our plans to come to fruition a few changes would have to be made, including one big change.

We're selling our house!

We've loved living here for the past few years but we think its time to move on.  We're not sure how long the process is going to take, as neither of us has been through it before, but we are ready to learn and move on to the next home in our lives. Today is our first showing and despite a big clean up last week, I feel like I have a lot to do before 4:30 pm.

Wish us luck!

8.06.2010

Happy weekend!

After plans have gone bust for two weekends in a row, we're taking this one easy:

Tonight: T and I are going to relax and clean up around the house. I know, pretty lame but we have to do it some time, right? Perhaps we'll even take in a trip to the library. {sigh}

Saturday: The 3 of us are attending a 1st Birthday party for baby AK. It is at a Japanese buffet so I'm sure we'll be holding off on breakfast in order to enjoy our full share for lunch. I can't wait to see how big AK has grown since we last saw her, about 5 months ago.

Sunday: No plans again. Perhaps this is a good trend for Sunday.

Surprises: There may be some Craigslisting, some more decluttering at my parents house, plans for a garage sale and more items on WMIY.
