March '12 - so far

We were blessed with the help of my mother, who took time off to come help us with the kids while we moved in and got things settled. It was a busy couple days but our place looks more like a home instead of a box landfill.

We've been getting to know our new town, checking in to a local church last Sunday, dining at a couple local eateries, and enjoying the ridiculously nice weather we're having!

Can you tell how she feels about hats?

January '12

Like I was saying, I was not much fun in the late stages of pregnancy. January was mostly spent waiting for my supposedly early 2nd born to arrive while dodging everyone else's birthday so as to not have to share. We did have a mini gathering for our little Bird's big #2 birthday, consisting of pizza, cake, my parents, and some Yo Gabba Gabba.

I swear I got a lot done

Boy, I sure have been busy, right?

I hate neglecting this little space but that seems to be the first to go when life gets a little full.

What have I been up to you ask:

*My little family helped Andrea with her promo for her shop, Flair in her Hair, and I have to say, it warms my heart to watch it. Her husband, Ryan, owner of Epic Motion, shot all the footage and it is just a little vignette of our funny little girl and her parents doing what we do best, enjoying our time together. I was so proud of her because she did so well the whole shoot, despite not starting until her bedtime.

*I have been getting ready for my first craft show, July 4th, in Clawson! My display is almost complete and I've been stitching the nights away to complete some new inventory for the show. I've been so lucky to have so much help getting ready, from my mom helping with my tablecloth to T working hard on my stand up display. This show will be the first of a few I'll be doing this summer, alongside Miss Andrea and I'm so excited to get out there, meet some new folks and show my work.

*I've been doing some knitting on a project that I'll show off soon enough, but rest assured, I can't wait to reveal the final product!

The summer is always a busy time and this one is sure to be full. I can't wait to share all of our adventures!

Routine

1030 am wake up | The little lady decided to sleep in today and that meant I got to as well. I could get used to this.

morning face

But I shouldn't.

I want to get into a more regimented routine around here. There is just so much to get done every day and I am the kind of person that works best with a schedule and routine.

Things I'm going to work on this next week:

*Formalizing a schedule for Bird's day, complete with wake up times (right now its when ever she gets up, we get up), nap time, meal times, dance parties and most importantly bedtime!

Her chair and favorite place to dance it out
*Working out a schedule to split my available work time between goose + trisser and papernstitch.

*Finding some me-time during the day to nap, read, workout, have a manicure, + connect with friends

Spring Bird

I weeped a bit this morning. She has gotten so big. And not to brag, but she is so beautiful!

Seeing my little girl grow up over the past 15 months has brought up all kinds of emotions. I just see so much potential for her to do anything in this world that she wants to do, to be a kind hearted person and help where she can. I see the joy she already brings to people now with her smiles and her giggles. It really amazes me how much she learns and grows each day. She truly warms my heart daily, such a blessing to my life.

Because I can't not talk about it

We found out March 6th. Very early but very clearly.

In a matter of 10 days, things went from normal to awesome to normal again. But a different normal. A new normal.

One day, it was there. And now its not.

You were wanted. We miss you already, but we'll be OK. A different OK, forever changed -- but OK.

I choose to talk about it because I know this is normal. Not a great situation, but far more prevalent than people wish to acknowledge. I know I'm not alone. That I am one of many that experience, this but I won't do it quietly. I know we are not the only family that is going through this or will go through this. So I talk, when I'm ready. And I listen to others and their stories because that is what we need. To talk and to be listened to.

For the rest of the afternoon, after the news sunk in, we played with Bird, so so grateful that we have her. All her laughter, smiles, giggles, curls, steps, kisses, everything, made it feel OK. We are so very blessed and know that God has an amazing plan for our little family. His plan, His timing.

We are ready for the ride.

Ease into the week - more bits

Bird and I were under the weather this weekend, so we relaxed and were tended to by Nurse T. It was not easy to take care of two sick ladies but he managed very well. There was lots of napping, many movies on Netflix, fun foods to make us sickies feel better and lots of hugs. T is now sick himself.

We did get a chance to go visit Enomhen, who was in town for a surprise visit to meet her little sister Vikki's 2 week old baby girl, Johanna. How I missed my little Bird when I held teeny Johanna!

I'm really looking forward to feeling better this week, working on some shop updates, having play time with friends (for Bird and me!) and being that much closer to Spring! I had a great mail weekend, receiving my new biz cards (photos to come!), tons of hoops for new orders, and new item labels. I'm chomping at the bit to get creative but I'm trying not to be too ambitious this week as I'm still recovering, so it might just end up being a "play time, all the time" and "don't get the house too dirty" kind of week. Wish me luck.

Tomorrow we celebrate T's 30th birthday, so leave some love for him and I'll let you know how the celebration goes. I can't believe he's going to be 30. Where did it all go? I still remember us in college, the early twenties, and now...30, already? That means I'm not too far behind, but I'm still behind for now and enjoying my last few years of the twenties. I think I found him the perfect present too but you'll just have to wait and see.

Did you happen to catch my guest post over at Good Times Never Seem Sew Good? Caroline took a little vacation and a few of us stormed the blog with goodness in her absence. Take a peek!

happy monday!

Belated Birthday Photo Blast

Bird's birthday par-tay went really well last weekend. Some of her favorite little people were there and they brought along their parents, which T and I enjoyed. We ate pizza and veggies, indulged in (cup)cake, and marveled at how much has changed in the last year.

Both sets of our parents got to be there and enjoy watching their granddaughter eat cake (read: sugar!) for the first time. I think this will lead to them giving her much more of it in the future.

She was blessed to receive many toys, which her friends wasted no time helping her break in, along with books, clothes, money to be saved and a few handmade treasures.

Check out the day, including the birthday girl and her entourage enjoying the festivities:
