Bird's birthday par-tay went really well last weekend. Some of her favorite little people were there and they brought along their parents, which T and I enjoyed. We ate pizza and veggies, indulged in (cup)cake, and marveled at how much has changed in the last year.
Both sets of our parents got to be there and enjoy watching their granddaughter eat cake (read: sugar!) for the first time. I think this will lead to them giving her much more of it in the future.
She was blessed to receive many toys, which her friends wasted no time helping her break in, along with books, clothes, money to be saved and a few handmade treasures.
Check out the day, including the birthday girl and her entourage enjoying the festivities:

Happy Weekend!
What are you up to this weekend?
My friend and neighbor Morgan is having a birthday and so we are having a little Girls Night Out Saturday, complete with back in the day "getting ready time" before the evenings festivities start. Did I mention how much I love having a talented friend that also enjoys styling my hair and giving awesome playdate manicures, she's like a prayer answered. We'll probably be grabbing some grub and drinks locally and dancing the night away. The best part: being chauffeured around by our husbands! What great guys for doing this.
Sunday we're having a little Steak Taco Night and G-rant is coming to hang for the evening. He's been charged with bringing the chips and salsa and we just hope he takes this task seriously. Seriously.
That's just how we roll.

SGS Dedication + present reveal
Last weekend we had the pleasure of seeing this little bundle get dedicated.
Their letter to her was so touching and honest and it was an amazing moment to witness. Little SG behaved so well during the ceremony and looked so beautiful in her gown. Afterward, we were invited back to their house for food, drinks and good times with friends as we celebrated together. Of course there was cake and presents too! Here is a peek at the little gift I crafted especially for her:

October
So far October has just flown by:
-Birthday girl's weekend on Mackinac Island with my mom and SIL. Our hotel was right next to the ferry docks and had a great view of the Mack. Bridge, main street and the boardwalk. I had a great time with just the ladies and enjoyed just walking around the island enjoying the mildly chilly weather. The only money that I spent was on food and it was worth it...big breakfasts both mornings, long dinners with dessert each night...a pregnant lady's dream.
-I had my baby shower! I was so surprised by the generosity of my family, friends, and coworkers, even friends of my parents that I had never met. We received enough to fill up the baby's room and now T has so many things to put together, keeping him busy for a while.
-We're taking an anniversary/babymoon weekend next weekend that I can't wait for. Not only will the time off of work be worth it but it will be nice to just relax with T, with no big schedule, just the two of us. I don't know the next time we'll be able to get away like this, so I'm really looking forward to this.

Always a bridesmaid, already a bride...
As if my level of excitement for AAD's upcoming nuptials could grow any bigger, she has asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding along with some of my favorite ladies!
I am very grateful to be able to repay the great friendship and service that was provided to me on my wedding day by AAD and my other bridesmaids. I can only hope to do as great a job as they did!
First things first, set up a savings account specifically for this wedding and the expenses that will be incurred. I plan on setting aside a portion or all of my clothing allowance per month for this. Overall I think my costs will break down like this:

Another one bites the dust!
One of my best friends, AAD just got engaged this weekend!
I could not be more happy for her and elated that she has found the man she wants to spend her life with. This man truly loves and cares for her and wants nothing but the best for her, what more could you want for your friends!
I can only hope that this means plenty of partying and last minute debauchery is in store for her visit this week and all throughout the next year as plans get under way for her big day.
Congratulations and I love you!

Week 7
We have officially made it to week 7 of our marriage.
I don't know what that means, but it seems like a milestone at this point, so I thought I'd take the time to chat about it.
I think week 7 is the comfortable time, when people stop asking about the wedding, but strangers still call you newlyweds.
I wish week 7 was when your wedding photos arrived, so people can stop asking for those, but we'll all just have to wait and see for that one as well.
In case anyone has found this blog mysteriously and is wondering just what "the roost" looks like, I am planning to post pictures this weekend, but don't quote me on that.
I say don't quote me because I'm actually trying to utilize my time for napping, sleeping, resting, laying down with my eyes closed and other activities that don't involve me moving while staying alive.
The other thing that is going to take up about 1.75 hours these next couple weeks is planning for our holiday/housewarming/going away party. I love party planning now that the wedding planning is all over, cause there isn't so much 1) pressure and 2) expense involved. The theme is "The White Party" and I'm going to 'go all out' and find food, beverages and even attire to compliment the theme.
P.S. I love geeks and lankys...
P.P.S. The thing in the title is a nest, not a donut...
