Yesterday, T and I took Bird on her first road trip to...Newbury, OH!
The fam drove on down to Ohio to visit the O's that had moved for Florida over a year ago now. Their two boys have grown up so much and they were excited to meet our little Bird.
It took about 4.5 hours to get down there, with two stops on the way (once to Bird-feed and another to feed ourselves). Once we got off the highway and got closer to Mrs. O's parents house, the scenery was gorgeous - lots of large houses on big hills, lots of expanse, farms, a river, just beautiful.
Her parents had an open house for the O's and we all enjoyed the company, new and old friends, some chili and chips and other eats, and all the kiddies. There were so many children, of all ages and stages, each couple with two or three. I don't think I'd ever been in a place with some many children, all playing so well with one another.
On our way home we searched for the Sonic that we'd seen on our way to OH but were unlucky in our quest. We settled for McDonald's and swiftly made our way back to the house.
To make up for our very fun filled, exhausting Saturday, the three of us have done not much more than eat, sleep, and lounge today.

2 years
Yesterday marked T and I's 2 year anniversary! We kept things kinda low key since it was mid week, just going to the doctor's for our monthly prenatal appointment and then to dinner at a local favorite, Fishbones.
T was very sweet and surprised me with flowers in my car after the doctor's appointment, and I think I was equally sweet by surprising him with monogrammed handkerchiefs (he's a bit of an old man and I love it!)
The biggest surprise/present was that we are going to Stratford, ON, Canada tomorrow to see the play The Importance of Being Ernest and staying at the Breaking Bread B&B nearby! T planned this all by himself and I have to be honest, I loved being surprised and should really let him surprise me more often (usually I get in the way, I'm so nosy.)
I am very excited for our trip tomorrow and simply for the chance to celebrate with T all that has come to pass in the last two years and our future that awaits us.

Chicago here we come!
It's official! I just purchased our tickets to Chicago. Barring some crazy event, JV and I will be on our way to Chi-town in about a month and a half!
We are taking the Megabus, which was recommended by my old supervisor/friend KW. Our tickets were only $35.25. At that price, I might be able to go visit Chicago and friends more often.
Now I just have to save for the adventures that we'll have there, dinners, shopping, nights on the town, breakfasts after!
Side note: This also means that all Fridays in November except for one I will have off for a vacation of some sort! Score!

Trip planning
I'm really excited because I've started planning a trip to visit K in Chicago in November.
I haven't been to Chicago in about 4 years and have been meaning to go visit so many friends that have moved there over the years.
The other fun part of this trip is that I'll have a traveling companion...JV. This will be the first trip that we've taken together in all our years of friendship...it might also be that last trip since JV is planning a move herself one of these days.
All these friends moving away and around mean more places for me to visit

Always a bridesmaid, already a bride...
As if my level of excitement for AAD's upcoming nuptials could grow any bigger, she has asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding along with some of my favorite ladies!
I am very grateful to be able to repay the great friendship and service that was provided to me on my wedding day by AAD and my other bridesmaids. I can only hope to do as great a job as they did!
First things first, set up a savings account specifically for this wedding and the expenses that will be incurred. I plan on setting aside a portion or all of my clothing allowance per month for this. Overall I think my costs will break down like this:

We're going camping
In light of the wedding being called off, we decided to go ahead and cancel our trip to NY, for good. The hotel cost will be refunded minus a $25 cancellation fee. The refund will be split up as such.
25% - Travel savings
75% - Debt snowflake
Our travel savings is now going towards our camping trip, with any leftovers being snowflaked to debt as originally planned.
T and I are really excited to go camping. This will be our second camping trip together and our first since getting married. Actually (hopefully!) this will be our first successful camping trip, since during the first one we took we both were sick and left after one night!
We will be camping up in northern Michigan, near T's hometown, for 2 nights. There is a lake, beach front, trails, and best of all, restrooms with showers!
I'm looking forward to this much needed mini-vaca!

To go, postpone, or cancel a.k.a. The wedding's off!
So this week we were faced with some sad news: my friend N called off her wedding.
[moment of silence]
After getting past the shock of the actual announcement that the wedding would no longer be taking place, T and I started to think of our options now that our summer trip was in limbo. Our tickets to get to NY are non-refundable which leaves us with these choices and their levels of costliness-
We could:
a.) Still go to NY and visit with N, though our reservations and all were closer to the wedding/reception venue (about an hour from N's place). This would entail an extra cost as we would then have to rent a car to go see her and the city. $$$
b.) Postpone our trip to the same destination. We really have no need to go to that part of NY, especially for the short amount of time the trip would be for (roughly 30 hours). $$
c.) Cancel our trip to NY. We can still get a refund of our hotel costs (minus a $25 cancellation fee) and use that money plus the spending money we were going to use on our trip towards something else. This would just leave us with a loss of $341 for tickets and $25 to cancel overall. $
Decisions to come in the near future...my prayers are with N in this time of change and re-evaluation.

Working for the weekend
...next weekend to be exact.
I am looking forward to this weekend because I'll get to spend time in our church nursery at two locations with my favorite babies.
The following weekend is the one I'm really excited about. After work on Thursday, I'm going to a concert with some girlfriends and then I get to sleep in on Friday. I took the day off of work so I could rest up for the drive up north to visit T's family. This should be a fun visit and the travel part is already budgeted for, so that's a weight off of our shoulders. It will be nice to just get away and enjoy some quiet time with each other and the in-laws.

Update on Ebay "windfall"
We have decided to put the money towards our trip expenses and any money left over after our trip will be snowflaked to debt.
This way we feel even less stressed on our trip about covering meals and fun activities in our free time. Also, it kinda gives us an incentive to not spend it all in NY since we get to pay towards our debt free future if we are frugal.
It is times like this, when we discuss an issue and come to a decision together that I really feel like a team with T and not just like individuals running around doing whatever makes each of us happy.

We're going to NY! and other summer plans
We booked our tickets to go to NY for N's wedding! That makes wedding number two for us this summer!
It feels good to finally have that purchase out of the way, to stop worrying about the cost of getting there and where to stay and now get to focus on the fun we'll have celebrating their union and traveling together. One of the highlights of the trip (besides their fabulous Indian ceremony!) will be eating at Famous Dave's. This restaurant is near our hotel and apparently boasts really good - not good for you food in large quantities and we're excited. The other upside of the trip is that its totally budgeted for, all the trip costs and even fun money! Very little to worry about except arriving on time and making sure my voice doesn't go out and I don't forget the words to my song I'm singing for the couple!
One question is left to decide, what to get them and our other friends that are getting married in June?
Besides these farther away plans, this weekend should be fun because we are hosting the A's from T's home town. I'm excited to have them come down and visit and we'll get to go to the Red Bull Air Show with them on Sunday.
Later in June I'm going to a concert for a band I've never seen in concert before with some new friends. I'm really excited because I haven't been to a big show in a while and I love discovering new music. Also, I'm glad to be getting to know new people around this area.
Lastly, we are going to spend the weekend in T's home town up north. I really am looking forward to spending time with my in-laws as we don't get to see much of them and we always get to see my family. Its always so laid back when we go up there and my MIL and FIL are so accommodating.
